Gaz’s Fire Cider
Fire cider is believed to be good for you due to its potential immune support, anti-inflammatory properties, and digestive benefits. Ingredients like garlic, ginger, and vinegar contribute to its reported health benefits, including potential cold and flu prevention. I take a tablespoon each day. You can even use it for dressings & sauces.
Ingredients
2 onions, chopped roughly
3 bulbs garlic, halved
1/2 cup fresh ginger, chopped
1/2 cup fresh turmeric root, chopped
2-3 fresh chillis, chopped
2 lemons, cut into chunks
1/4 cup fresh rosemary leaves
1/4 cup fresh sage leaves
1 cinnamon stick
3 star anise
3 cloves
Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar
Method
Add all the ingredients to a large sealable jar & then pour over the apple cider vinegar to cover completely.
Store the jar in a cool, dark place for about 3-4 weeks. Shake the jar daily to agitate the mixture.
After the steeping period, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean glass container. Squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
You can sweeten your fire cider with maple to taste if you find it too strong. Start with a tablespoon and adjust from there.
Store the fire cider in the refrigerator. It will keep for several months or even longer.
Take 1-2 tbs daily, mixed with water.
